This isn’t a textbook.
It’s not a how-to guide, a leadership memoir, or a feel-good startup tale.
It’s a business fable — drawn from the trenches — about what happens when a real company starts bleeding cash, bleeding people, and bleeding pride. And what it takes to stop the bleeding before it’s too late.
The business in question?
A multi-generational fabrication shop called Integrity, run by three adult siblings with a shed full of tools and a legacy they’re barely holding onto.
The story’s fictional.
The pressure is not.
Behind every P&L is a person.
Behind every business mess is a culture, a system, and a choice.
Forged puts all three on the table — showing what happens when a family business stops tolerating drift and starts facing hard truths about cash, culture, and leadership.
And maybe… it’s for you.
Kevin Wysleier – The Guide

The Threats
(Without the jargon)
Because I’ve seen too many good people lose what they’ve built — not from stupidity or laziness, but because they were never taught how to lead through chaos.
Forged is my attempt to change that.
It’s the book I wish I’d had to give to every second-generation business owner who thought they had to go it alone.
Charles Barnard is a business coach, interim GM, and turnaround advisor who’s spent more than three decades helping owners lead through pressure, complexity, and change.
Born in South Africa and now based in Sydney, he’s guided businesses across Africa, the Middle East, and Australia — from family-run workshops to large-scale bottlers. Along the way, he’s learned that most business breakdowns aren’t caused by bad people. They’re caused by drift, silence, and the belief that you’ve got to go it alone.
Forged is his first business fable — a book built from scars, sweat, and the belief that cash, culture, and leadership are what keep a business breathing.
It’s the book he wishes his father had.
And the one he hopes will outlive him.
“Chapter 1 made me laugh out loud. I thought your guy had walked into NBC… old machines, dusty chaos, no leadership—loved it.
The rest was even better. If only I’d had this kind of insight when I was running Dad’s business back in South Africa in the ’90s… things might’ve ended differently.”
— Lester Milton, former business owner
“I was surprised that a "business book" could make me feel so emotional.”
— Garry Lloyd – CEO and Mentor
“I’ve just read the first 20 pages and I’m already frustrated — because the family keeps interrupting me and reading it over my shoulder. It’s a page turner.”
— Misty Henkel, Sales Coach & Trainer
“It’s like E-Myth, only easier to read.”
— Misty Henkel, Sales Coach & Trainer
“It’s right up there with The One Minute Manager.”
— Louis Swart, Business Coach and Mentor, Ironbrij
“I didn’t expect to get drawn into a business book — but Forged isn’t a textbook. It’s real. The family felt familiar, the pressures felt true, and I saw clients I’ve worked with on every page.”
— Sarah Raad, Bookkeeper and Managing Director, Bookkeeping on Time
